A plan to convert London's Olympic Stadium into
a grand prix venue is one of four bids being considered by the London
Legacy Development Corporation, according to The Daily Telegraph.

In a series of eye-catching claims, it's reported that the bid,
tabled by Intelligent Transport Solutions Ltd, is listed as being 'on
behalf of Formula One', has sought the approval of Bernie Ecclestone,
and 'could allow Britain's round of the World Championship to be staged
in Stratford'.

'The plan is thought to propose running the cars on a track running
into the stadium and then around the Olympic Park, which has
considerable wide-open spaces, though is designed for pedestrians rather
than 700 horsepower F1 cars,' adds the newspaper.

Ecclestone himself is quoted as saying: 'This is a firm that happened
to be bidding for use of the stadium, not to own it. They came up with a
scheme whereby Formula One would race around the stadium, inside it,
outside it. They wanted to make sure I would be interested."

'Asked if he remained interested in staging a London F1 race, Ecclestone said: "Yeah."'

However, West Ham remain the favourites to win the tenancy of the
Olympic base, and the F1 bid is, according to the Telegraph, being
treated with 'considerable scepticism by the LLDC'.
