Floyd Mayweather Jr maintained his perfect
record, picking up the WBA Super World light-middleweight title in the
process, with a battling unanimous points victory over Miguel Cotto in
Las Vegas.

The American was awarded the bout 118-110 and 117-111 (twice) on
the judges' scorecards to make it 43 straight wins as a professional.
The focus will now again turn to a
potential super fight against Manny Pacquiao, though the 35-year-old
known as 'Money' must first serve a three-month prison sentence after
pleading guilty to a domestic violence charge.

Mayweather certainly stated his desire to face the Filipino next and
even suggested the two would have already met had it not been for
Pacquiao's promoter, Bob Arum.

"This fight right here, I was looking to fight Manny Pacquiao," he told HBO.

"The fight didn't happen, I don't think the fight could happen
because of Bob Arum. Bob Arum was in the way - he stopped the Pacquiao

"Let's give the fans what they want to see. They want to see Mayweather-Pacquiao."

He was also quick to praise Cotto, adding: "You're the toughest guy I
ever fought. I had to fight hard and suck it up. I dug down and fought
him back."

Mayweather was walked down to the ring by WWE Superstar HHH.
